What is The Unit Diet?

The Unit Diet focusses on eating properly, with the emphasis on eating Cereals, Vegetables, Fruit, Low Fat Dairy Products, Non-Refined Carbohydrates and Treats in moderation. Every member gets a zero food list. These foods can be eaten freely, there's no need to weigh them, just eat until you are satisfied. All other foods not on the zero food list are given a Unit value. A Unit is a measurement based on the food's calorie and fat content.

Every day members have a daily unit allowance, this is calculated by answering a set of lifestyle questions within the Book. Unit values can be found by looking in the book listings, or by using the Matrix - an easy to use table designed to 'calculate' the Unit value of any Food and Drink items by simply inputting the calorie and fat value of the item . Both methods are fine, just do whatever you find easiest!

* We conducted a survey during June and July 2007 of 200 randomly selected members. We asked them to vote anonymously for the weight loss plan they have found most enjoyable. The choices on offer covered 10 current weight loss plans including other slimming clubs, online diet clubs and meal replacement diets. An astounding 90% of votes were in favour of The Unit Diet. The general consensus was that members enjoyed losing weight steadily, enjoying treats and not feeling hungry.
